Before you travel to Japan, make sure to research the new currency so you don’t get confused. When it comes to travel, electronic money for transportation is incredibly convenient. In the Tokyo area, you’ll find Suica, and in the Kansai region, there’s Icoca. There are various other transportation IC cards with different names across the country, but they can mostly be used interchangeably.
